Village 'Sponsor A School' Programme

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for all our pupils at Key Stage 5 following a new link with The Village Hotel, Bromborough. For some years The Village Hotel Leisure complex and their Leisure Manager, Michael Povall have been keen supporters of Bebington High Sports College, particularly in raising the profile of Sport and Lifelong Health and Fitness at our annual Open Evening in September.

Throughout this academic year we will be furthering this link with a FREE! Physical Education and Coaching programme at the superb Village facilities on Wednesday afternoons. Pupils who opt for The Village experience can choose from Yoga, Pilates, Aqua-Aerobics and 'Teen-Gym' sessions at the onset of the programme, all delivered by experienced and well-qualified Village coaches, and this is just the start!

In addition to this Village coaches are preparing to visit Bebington High Sports College to deliver taster sessions for our younger pupils as well as providing a venue for our staff training evenings, the first of which, a Hockey INSET evening delivered by our School Sports Coordinator and International Commonwealth games medal winner Carolyn Reid, takes place on Thursday 28th September 2006.

Future developments will include joint sessions with our partner schools, Plessington Catholic Technology College, Wirral Grammar School for Boys and Girls and South Wirral High School.

The Village project forms part of an ambitious programme of sporting opportunities for our VIth formers on Wednesdays including competitive fixtures in basketball and football, the use of The Oval Leisure Centre for swimming and the opportunity to complete the Community Sports Leaders Award.
