World Book Day 2011 was a great success as students from BHSC were whisked into the world of storytelling, from dressing up as favourite book characters to taking part in reading groups and author events. World Book Day is the biggest annual celebration of books and reading in the UK and Ireland.
Both students and staff at Bebington High Sports College enjoyed a full literacy festival during the week. The appreciative young audience enjoyed humorous writing and exciting stories.
Students began the day with an exhilarating and gripping introduction to writing life. Humorous tales involving weird and wonderful lands and mythical creatures fascinated the students, leaving them with memories to pass on to others.
Also on saturday 5th there will be a FREE family day between the hours of 11am - 2pm in the school library, where there will be storystelling by the CHICKLITS at 11.30 - 1pm, craft making sessions, reading corner, computer games, refreshments and giveaways.
Learning Resource Manager Kate Williams stated 'World Book Day raises the profile of reading and literacy in general, which is close to my heart, I enjoy being around the students talking about authors, sharing the excitement of books and reading'
